I found a nice M15 in Pensacola, Florida and began negotiating via E-mail for a better price.  Someone else in Virginia  (20 minutes from my house) drove down and bought her while I was sending E-mails.  I found another M15 in Jacksonville, Florida and began negotiating via E-mails for a better price.  Someone else in Virginia (40 minutes from my house) drove down and bought it while I was E-mailing.  I found a 3rd M15 in Georgia and began negotiating via E-mails for a better price.  The owner told me some others were interested so I just sent him a down payment and drove down the next weekend and bought it.  When I  arrived in Georgia it was the first time I had actually seen any Montgomery boat and I loved it.  I took ownership that Sunday in February 97,  drove to a tire store and replaced all of the tires and the spare.   From there I drove to Savannah, Georgia and launched the boat in the ICW,  went for a 3 hour sail and spent the night on it.  The fun had begun.

The first time I launched on the Chesapeake Bay was in the West River, and the Coast Guard immediately stopped me for a safety check.  I think the boat was so cute they had to check it out.  After being released this really cool looking old boat came very close to me and the skipper started yelling at me.  It was Nick Honodel in the M23 Walkabout inviting me to the Montgomery Rendezvous in June. I went on that 1997 Chesapeake Bay Rendezvous and learned the pleasures of sailing in company and have not missed one since.  I absolutely love this boat.  I have towed it and sailed it from Key West to Maine and sleep on it an average of 25 nights a year.  In a Montgomery 15,  life is gooooood.  It does not get much better than this.  I anchor in secluded locations with good friends,  good wine,  good food and good sleeping.  All for little or no money!  What more can you ask out of life's little pleasures?"

"Seas the Day"
"I saw an article in Messing About In Boats written by Charlie Matthews down in Florida.  He was in his 70s and cruising in this... cute little boat,  that had about the same underwater profile as the Sam Rabel Meadowlark.  I immediately went on the hunt for the Montgomery 15 and discovered this wonderful boat and a wonderful network of people:
