"It was cold and overcast in our part of Indiana. However, we wanted to get our new M15 launched before she was put away for the winter and The nearest body of water is Winona Lake. Not the ideal sailing lake, but about 20 miles closer than Lake Wawasee, (much larger - much nicer) and permitted us to do a sail by as Kim (first mate and wife of 24 years), braving the elements with us, took some photos. If you look closely in either of the top outer photos, you will see my M15 ball cap I ordered from Sean Mulligan (M23 Dauntless).
Two of my sons (bottom left) Nick and (bottom right) Adam and I only spent a few hours on the water as it was overcast with a high of 52. But in those few hours, I was pleased with how the boat performed. I have owned a Hunter 23, great sailing boat. And a Seward Fox, which looked better than it sailed.
The wind on this day was mixed. We started out with very light winds, then after a while it did pick up and became lively. Our new M15 would easily out sail the Seward fox in light air and she handled the gusts nicely. Even with inexperienced crew, (first time sailing for the boys), the M15 lived up to the reputation as a seaworthy and easy to handle craft.
The end of the maiden voyage of Midnight Passage came to quickly. We went home, gave her a quick bath and put her away in the garage. It is going to be a long winter".
