Coyote is the first of the limited addition Flush Deck Montgomery 17.  She was created as a racing craft from the beginning and campaigned in California,  Mexico and later in Arizona.  Twice winner of the San Carlos to Guymas race in Sonora, Mexico. Winner of a series of races at Lake Havasu Nevada and at Elephant Butte Lake in New Mexico as well as consistent winnings at local Southern California races. She is now in a semi-retirement, waiting to be tested and trued, only a few times a year. Until those times, she spends her retirement under cover in near new condition.
There are a few other FD M17's scattered throughout California,  Arizona,  Idaho and New Mexico.  All use the standard Montgomery hull numbering,  but are of course, easily recognized.  The hull specifications are the same as the cabin model,  but sport taller masts,  higher aspect rigs and weigh in a little less.  Coyote is also poster boat for the original 70's brochure  and more information is available on the MSOG Main Site.
From the brochure:    "The M-17 flushdeck began as a project for a personal boat for myself and we did not originally intend on marketing her. I had in mind a boat that would be competitive with keelboats of 20-25 feet on a boat-for-boat basis but would be stiff enough to take to Catalina Island or to the sea of Cortez and not worry about the weather."     Jerry Montgomery.
