In your travels through the Photo Site you may have come across M-17 "Honshell". Part of her retrofit was adding portlights. The process was completed by a professional boatwright who did a great job of getting the portlights symmetrical and the color of gelcoat to match properly. The process looks fairly straightforward. Fill in the old ports and make certain to match the gelcoat. Polish the exterior and paint the interior to match the existing splatter colors. And finally cut the holes to install the new portlights.
NOTE: A window that does not open is a "port" while A "portlight" is a window that opens.
A recent visit to the Wooden Boat Foundation showed me the costs involved with this project. These portlights are available from the Chandlery at the WBF. The brand is Davy & Co and the price on them is $678.00 each!
