1979 Montgomery 23 - Hull Number 83
Throughout her years, different owners have each added their own wood working touches to the interior.  Some we love,  some we are going to have to try out to see if we like them.  Starboard side seating / berth has been substantially shortened in favor of a bulkhead enclosing the V-berth and head. (there is a door which is not shown in these photos)  and additional counter space and storage. Fold down table, semiprivate head area and six cubic foot insulated ice box help to make her feel like a much larger craft.

Photos and Story by Sean and Mari Jo Mulligan

Dauntless
was named in the early days of 2006  The name came from the challenges she and owners Sean and Mari Jo have come across during her refit. But, to their credit and the words definition - they as well as Dauntless are brave, not frightened or discouraged.  Sometimes boat naming is easy even if a refit is not.

Towards the end of 2005 Sean Mulligan and his best sailing buddy Scott,  left home and drove over 5000 mile round trip, from Arizona to Florida (photo lower right) to bring this M-23 home. More photos can be seen in the album entitled " bringing her home " on this Photo Site.

Second photo down on the right taken during the Arizona Yacht Club, Birthday Regatta in 2007. Left to right; Gary Oberbeck, Jerry Montgomery (the man himself), and Sean Mulligan.
Hull Number 83 spent most of her life in Kemah, Texas. Then she went to Bokeelia, Florida where she rode out Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Rita. She is a tough old girl.  The M23 has a huge interior for a 23' boat with only an 8 foot beam. Most people would guess she is a 25 footer.
