In all of the years we have owned our Montgomery 7-11, she has sailed the waters of the high mountain lakes of Utah and California, the San Francisco Bay area and she's been to Micronesia twice. When I tell that story to folks I notice their eyes light up; thinking they must be talking to an old salt - if I've been to Pohmpei and Belau twice in this little boat. Then reality hits when I explain the Montgomery made it there in a container.
The 7-11 was added to the fleet in the early 70's as the tender of a Catalina 22 which was trailered to many areas of California. I went to school in Guam in the 50's and was able to return to that area in the 80's and 90's. Now part of the year is spent in Utah with the balance spent in the San Francisco Bay area, where we sail our Pearson Renegade "Waka iti".

I have always been partial to the Montgomery line of boats, with their classic looks and great load capacity. I still think about finding a Montgomery 17 with a fixed keel. Maybe someday...
