Bobbie bought Liftoff in 1985 from Jerry Montgomery. Bobbie is the Original Owner who has cared for her over the past couple of decades with no urgent need to part with her any time soon. Liftoff spends part of the year in Central California and then summers and vacations in the Puget Sound of Western Washington.
"We launched at Maxwelton on Whidbey Island at a not-high-enough tide with great difficulty. I think I need to get a second hitch for my car because the one I have, which is great for trailering, holds the tongue too low for launching (I don't have the tongue extension. Anyway, we ended up tying the trailer to the hitch by a rope (resting on the tongue wheel) and letting it roll back into the water in order to get the boat off. I parked the car and trailer and we took off.
Not much wind for awhile, but it eventually came up. I had decided it would be to difficult to retrieve our M15 from the same boat ramp until there was something done about the trailer hitch, so we sailed to Useless Bay and Sunlight Beach and anchored. (My cabin is on Sunlight Beach, but on the back side so I can't see the boat from my house.) The boat was on tide flats at low tide but in a place with soft sand and no rocks, so she was fine. I did check later to see if she was dragging her anchor and found her sailing around her anchor and quite content.
My nephew, Jake who is 13, had previously sailed Sabot and Sunfish so he was able to single-hand Liftoff for a few tacks so I could take pictures. So... how do I get my pictures onto the Photo Site?"
