" Bonita "
1976 Montgomery 17 - Hull Number 92
Michael Bowden... AKA:  Bones to all of us on the Montgomery Owners Group E-mail List,  bought Bonita in 1996, after five months of negotiations, (read begging - ha ha) with the prior owner, a Lake Superior, Charter Captain. Bones had looked for two years before he saw her and tenacity won out. She was his.

The top row, far left photo shows Bones with a nice smallmouth Bass caught on a twistertail jig. The Bass went nuts over the combination, even thought the targeted fish were Walleye, which seemed to asleep or at least not willing during this outing.

Next to the last photo on the top right shows the white oak, tilt-up rudder created by Bones well before the new Idasailer rudder became popular. The wood rudder adds a taste of authenticity and originality while the tilt-up feature enables Bones to safely navigate shallow cruising areas.

Bottom row, second from the left:  Bones in his IK (inflatable kayak). It is a boon to have for the evening social events, exploring and fishing in the evenings while Bonita rests on the hook.

Bonita was sailed for five years before Bones stepped up to a larger M23. Both craft have been retained, however family trips are most enjoyed in the comfort of the larger boat. Bones's M23 is Dhana who also has a place here on the photo site. Click on Dhana's name to visit her page.
